About
History
In 1921 Sunday School began every week at 3 pm in the old school house that stood on the existing property. Finally, in 1926 Reverend Joe Chambers came from Lee County to become the first pastor at Epperson. When the school itself was closed, service continued on the property, but not in the building. Instead, worshippers met under the trees or in the old tobacco barn. In 1936, service began again in the building when John R. Chambers, the son of Reverend Joe Chambers, reopened the doors to the school building and began raising money to purchase it. The property was purchased in 1939 for $310, and Reverend Chambers continued to serve and pastor until 1974.
Today Epperson is led by Pastor Chris Williams who has faithfully served since January 1995. New renovations were completed in 2020, and the church continues to flourish and grow.
Epperson currently offers Sunday School for both adults and children, a thriving Children's church program during worship with monthly children's events, a wide variety of church events and get togethers as well as Wednesday night service.
