In 1921, Sunday School began every week at 3 pm in the old schoolhouse that stood on the existing property. Finally, in 1926, Reverend Joe Chambers came from Lee County to become the first pastor at Epperson. When the school itself was closed, service continued on the property, but not in the building. Instead, worshippers met under the trees or in the old tobacco barn. In 1936, service began again in the building when John R. Chambers, the son of Reverend Joe Chambers, reopened the doors to the school building and began raising money to purchase it. The property was purchased in 1939 for $310, and Reverend Chambers continued to serve as pastor until 1974.
Pastor Chris Williams faithfully served from January 1995 until November 2025. New renovations were completed in 2020, and the church continues to flourish and grow.
Associate Pastor Jennifer Gould is currently filling in as interim pastor until a lead pastor is found.
Epperson offers Sunday School for both adults and children, a thriving Children's church program during worship with monthly children's events, a wide variety of church events and get-togethers, as well as Wednesday night service.
